Supplier Information Management software that will tickle your fondant fancy

The new season of The Great British Bake Off started on Channel 4 this week, and we are all ready to find out what technical challenges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith have set the bakers, as well as discover which contestant crumbles first and takes their choux buns out of the oven too early – admit it, we all love pastry week!

Similar to a well-baked cake, effective supplier management software features a range of innovative ingredients and features in order to produce the perfect masterpiece.

Gather everything you knead to know from your suppliers, including allergen data

Seeded batches, baguettes, rye, sourdough, soda and naan – the list is endless when it comes to bread week on Bake Off.

Along with the vast amounts of bread variations comes an increased risk of allergens, and if you’re in the food and drink industry, allergen awareness is rife and many are turning to the supply chain to reduce the risks.

Specialist software, such as ARCUS® PIM, uses custom product questionnaires that suppliers have to complete to provide you with the specific product data you need to know, such as allergen policies and ingredients, which can then be fed into third-party recipe management systems. This monitoring and management helps to reduce risks such as damage to brand and, in extreme cases, death.

Avoid missing supplier (and pastry) deadlines by setting your timers

25 or 35 minutes? eight or 10? How long do you bake pastry to avoid Bake Off’s infamous criticism: the soggy bottom? We’re not quite sure, but one thing we do know is that the contestants would crumble without their electronic timers.

Advanced SIM software features configurable alerts and reminders that can be sent directly to suppliers to prompt them to keep the information up to date and valid. ARCUS® SIM’s new Manufacturing Site Audit plug-in allows Technical and Quality experts to use these alerts to record and schedule audits against a supplier, which sits nicely within their standard SIM profile in the cloud.

This innovation makes managing this process a piece of cake.

Additional functionality is the icing on the cake!

Cutting into a cake and realising there are additional layers of jam and buttercream is enough to put a smile on anyone’s face – or earn a firm handshake from Paul Hollywood.

Similarly, utilising software that gathers additional layers of detailed information on suppliers is equally as satisfying.

As well as gathering supplier audit and product information, ARCUS® SIM’s Manufacturing Site Information plug-in allows you to collect and upload specific detailed information about your suppliers’ manufacturing sites to further mitigate risks.

Suppliers are requested, during the on-boarding process, to enter and upload key documents and information about their quality systems, including BRC, Kosher, Halal and Organic certificates and other information relating to food safety for each site they wish to supply you from.

This revolutionary, in-depth functionality is what sets Trade Interchange aside from the competition, and what makes ARCUS® SIM the overall Showstopper.
