National Beer Day 2020: Raising the Bar!

Many people will be raising a glass this National Beer Day; a celebration of Britain’s national alcoholic drink that ranges from traditional ales, mainstream lagers to increasingly popular limited-edition craft beers.

National Beer Day is celebrated annually in the United Kingdom on the 15th June, and although it might not be immediately apparent why, the date was chosen by the organisers as this was the day that the Magna Carta was sealed in 1215.

Ale was so important in England in 1215 that it was mentioned in one of the most significant legal documents in history, with Article 35 of the Magna Carta reading:

“Let there be throughout our kingdom a single measure for wine and a single measure of ale and a single measure for corn…”.

Of course, many people across the country will rightly see National Beer Day as an opportunity to discover new tastes and sample some exciting previously untasted beers.

Raise the bar with your supplier selection process

Much like sampling previously untried beers, procurement professionals in the food and drink industry are always looking to their supplier selection process, and how they can save time and streamline the procedure.

For a combination of reasons, many companies struggle to run their supplier tenders as efficiently as they possibly can.

For example, data is often collected in many different formats, is often duplicated, and stored in several disparate systems.

ARCUS® eRFX is an online tool that enables procurement professionals to streamline their supplier selection process, centralising all requests for information and providing all stakeholders with consistent tender data.

Suppliers must answer questions in the format specified by the company, ensuring that all answers are answered in a uniform manner, making it easier for procurement professionals to compare all supplier responses.

Sharing SUpplier information is ale in a day’s work

While buying a round of drinks for your friends may show that sharing is caring, procurement professionals must share important supplier information with other relevant professionals across different departments.

This is especially true during supplier on-boarding, where procurement professionals must demonstrate that due diligence has been performed and supplier compliance has been confirmed to their colleagues in the quality and technical departments.

ARCUS® SIM is a central platform for automating the supplier on-boarding process, as suppliers complete tailored questionnaires and upload supporting documentation, removing the need for procurement professionals to chase this information.

All of this supplier information is stored securely in the cloud and can be accessed remotely at any time by all key stakeholders. This ensures that data accuracy is maintained and that the information is easy to share between different departments.

While ARCUS® supplier management software might not be able to help clear a hangover, it certainly can alleviate the headaches caused by ensuring compliance in your supply chain. Cheers!
